Let's face it: masks are the new norm for the foreseeable future. But as many of us have learned, it doesn't mean you can't make the new accessory and necessity fashionable. From Christian Siriano to Nicole Miller, masks have even been making their way onto runaways. Fashion doesn't make masks any easier to wear but they definitely can be statement-makers if you have to wear them to be safe.
Masks can get costly, as the past few months have proven. Therefore, reusable masks are definitely the way to go. Luckily there are plenty of local spots in Michigan to pick up a stylish mask from. Here are just a few of the places you can find a fun, standout-mask to purchase from (in no particular order):

Cyberoptix TieLab is known for their custom and one-of-a-kind neck ties, bow-ties and scarves. And now they are applying this same creativity to their collection of face masks. If you're an art lover and looking for more than just a basic mask, then the DIA has you totally covered! The DIA features several iconic art images in its collection of masks such as Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry mural, Paul Cezanne's The Three Skulls and Charles Ethan Porter's Floral Still Life. It's definitely a fun way to wear a mask. They are priced at $24.95 and face mask filters can be purchased in a pack of 5 or 10.

Although many often try to duplicate them, the Detroit brand is an established, originator of its signature slogan and style. In the wake of covid, Detroit Vs. Everybody has not only joined in the mask-making business but they are using their masks to make bold statements, political statements to be exact. From cancer awareness to racism and injustice causes, there's a mask to express support for many social and political movements going on today. And if you're looking to simply represent where you're from in style, the classic "Detroit Vs. Everybody" or "313" masks are available too.

Even with the pandemic, University of Michigan fans can still show their support for their favorite Michigan college team with The M Den's vast assortment of face masks to choose from. Grab a pack of 3 or choose from single packed-masks that boast U of M pride. They also sell many gaiter scarves to keep warm as the weather transitions further into fall. Masks come in a single pack or a pack of multiple masks. (Tip: Get more for your money by purchasing a pack of masks for the same price.) You can even pick up mask chains to help you keep track of the pesky face coverings while on the go.

Since the break of covid, the Detroit manufacturer has been doing its part to help prevent the spread of the virus and help with the supply shortage. So it's not surprising their lending their hands to provide the public with reusable masks or purchase to get through this tough time. Detroit Sewn sells packs of 5 reusable masks, including see-through masks. They are priced at $10, $20 or $35. Best of all, they have masks in kid sizes too which can be a little harder to find during this pandemic. They also offer isolation gowns for $17.
