Patrick Kelly was an American fashion designer , born in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He studied  art at Jackson State University and attended the prestigious, Parsons Design NYC. Kelly would go on to work with Yves Saint Laurent chairman, Pierre Bergé. Kelly found major success with his flamboyant fashion designs in Paris during the late 1980’s. He would become the first American and the first African American to be admitted as a member of Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porte (leading force of the French  Ready-To-Wear fashion industry).
