History Today: Misty Copeland

Often times, Black History Month celebrates the past but does not always recognize history in the making or that has happened currently. I would like to celebrate today's moments. A perfect example of that is Misty Copeland. Misty Copeland became the third African American soloist and first in two decades with the American Ballet Theatre in 2007. She began doing ballet at the age of 13 and would gain many awards for her developing talent. She has danced in several ballets and continues to do so today. Her beauty, her talent and struggle to survive and flourish in the art of ballet is applaudable. She is proof that anything is possible and history is made everyday.
