You can’t talk about fashion in Detroit without mentioning Karen Buscemi. Buscemi is the the former editor of the Detroit fashion magazine, “StyleLine Magazine” and in 2012, she founded the Detroit Garment Group. The Detroit Garment Group's mission is “ fueling Michigan’s fashion community through programming and opportunities". Looking for a job in fashion? Or how about networking? This organization offers it.

Aside from The Detroit Garment Group, Karen Buscemi founded the Detroit sewing manufacturer company, Detroit Sewn, as well. Product development, pattern making and label sewing are just some of the many services it provides. But the manufacturer's biggest project and primary focus right now is creating masks for the medical community during the recent shortage caused by the spread of the  COVID-19 virus.

Fashion blogger and social media influencer, Shannon Lazovski is the creator of Glamorous Moms, Detroitmommies.com and the lifestyle magazine, Detroit Fashion News. From do-it-yourself fashion projects and manicure steps to makeup tricks, the online magazine provides it all.

When not busy with fashion, social media and business, she is lending her efforts to the community and charities such as the Grace Centers of Hope. Needless to say Lazovski is a boss and a force in Detroit doing her part and then some.

Jennifer Guarino was previously the vice president of the Detroit leather good company, Shinola and is on the board of Detroit’s UNESCO City of Design. Now, she is also the CEO/Chair at ISAIC; ISAIC is a manufacturing company set to open in spring 2020 on Cass Ave. The factory will provide both training and educational programs to individuals in Detroit, seeking to develop skills in sewing and fashion manufacturing. With the production of its factory still in progress, ISAIC is still working to help with the current mask shortage.
